Where are local maps stored?

Postby Sevenless » Mon Feb 18, 2019 4:30 pm

I use amber, but I thought vanilla has that local map feature as well. I'm changing computers, vanilla failed to launch, so I figured rather than trying to bugfix vanilla for checking I'd just ask you lovely folks.

Where are my local maps so I can port them to a new computer?

There is something there, it seems a little small for map data though. 250mb? I'll test that as soon as I can find a USB.

That folder contains the map markers you placed at least. I copied that folder from my home PC to my work PC to have my markers available there as well.

Alright, markers are what I really care about. Still dropboxing the folder, no USB to be found except the one with the windows install on it.

The easiest way to keep your maps at hand is still creating a map folder in Amber client folder ...

Bit late at this point isn't it? Or is there something I can do in retrospect?

Last time I used a map saving feature my map folder ballooned to 5+gb and I wasn't really enjoying that.

I think map is not stored as image locally but instead as array of biome per tile or some thing like this, then image is constructed by client when load from disk. This is why size is small.

On my machine these data are stored at /home/ysh/.haven/data, but maybe this is not so useful for you.
