Learning combat moves?

Postby oldbone » Sat Feb 23, 2019 12:54 pm

The first 10 or so ants I killed, I got a move like every other kill...
I've now killed ~20 ants and no moves... Is there a "diminishing returns" or something?

Loftar says there isn't, but a lot of people notice that the moves you get from a creature drop off incredibly rapidly. Well specifically there's less moves left to loot, but the drop off feels faster than it should given that.

Move up to bats when you're ready, they have quite a few moves that you'll need. Once you loot sideswipe your life gets easier, even better when uppercut comes into the field. I was using chop/lowblow as a filler up to that point.

ants, just like all other creatures give only certain moves when you defeat them
and of course when you get all of these moves to 5/5 you will not get any more

Still only have a set number of moves they'll teach. We're not 100% sure how it works, but if ants will only teach Punch up to 3, you're not going to get the 4th or 5th out of them. Ants have a very low rate of teaching, anyway. Better to get a bit extra AGI and UA and work on bats and better, even if you have to cheese them at cave entrances or burrows.

don't forget people can teach each other combat moves using Combat Instructions.

do not use burrows because boars and other animals can destroy them and you will very likely end up using another thing to be safe anyway
