Build high Q water well?

Postby toon » Tue Feb 26, 2019 11:00 am

Could I predict water quality in a well basing on well depth, i.e. how many materials it demands?
If not, how could I do that otherwise?

Depth has nothing to do with quality. You can test for quality if there is any other open water nearby. otherwise you just have to build and pray. Try to find high water marks nearby to drop cheaper wells, and sometimes you can use those to get an idea of where the peak water is and the quality of it.

i believe amount of rope indicates how fat from water node ou are, so if you want it closer to your house or fsacilities it costs more as of quality you just have to get lucky

It's unrelated. There's a random "depth" value that has nothing to do with water proximity or quality that determines rope.

There's a well near me that took 40 rope and is within view distance of a river. highest quality well on that node, and the two wells deeper inland/lower Q took less rope.

True. But that node is for depth (rope numbers) NOT for quality. Quality and depth are 2 different maps. Magic stick also points the depth nodes. Nothing points to quality, but trial and error.
Thank Jorbtar for this ;)

Also, it would be cool if more rope would mean better quality water, but it doesn't.

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

More XP means better quality water. Have to have something to sink all that into.

To clarify: The dig deep hearth magic spell increases the quality of a well by +5->+10 per use. Starts at 20k and doubles for each use on that well.

So there is a mechanism to increase Q ^^
