Stonestead size?

Postby Smoopadoop » Wed Feb 27, 2019 10:04 am

Wiki says 5*9 but I keep getting the "wrong terrain" error, which I assume is referring to the dirt outside outside of its purported footprint.

Is the stonestead bigger than the wiki says, or is there something wrong about my stone/brick pattern?

Always extend the wiki suggestion 1 in each direction because of small overlaps just outside the footprint. If you pay attention to how the game tries to place things, it almost never lines buildings up with the grid, which is why this happens.

this. If you turn on bounding boxes in your client, you can actually see where it sets. You can also try to adjust it off the standard grid by holding down "ctrl." Some buildings can be fit into the proper space this way, but not all.

Arguably the wiki should warn players of this somehow, but I'm not quite sure what the best way to do so would be. It IS that size, but it needs slightly more than that size.

If the box is bigger than 5x9, the wiki probably shouldn't say that as it makes it incorrect. I'm not sure saying "5.2x9.2" is good, either.

Maybe a small disclaimer in the sizing thing somehow? Or a * with an explanation at the bottom of the page?

This kind of mass typing is beyond me unfortunately.

To add to this, changing your :placegrid to 0 will allow you to be even more precise with your placements.

Wiki sometimes say it. I honestly did believe it always say it. Like Great Hall, for example, last lines on its page: A Great Hall needs a minimum flat area of 10x14 tiles, and is generally built on an 11x15 paved area.

Sorry, I guess the Stonestead is an exception somehow, IDK why.

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

Thanks for pulling that up, Agame. It's a good template to use for other housing that has issues like this. Fixing it now.
