Houses inside the cave

Postby Likejke » Thu Feb 28, 2019 4:57 pm

Can i build my whole base in the cave? Would that be a safer choice than building on the surface? I suppose i can, but if someone somehow enters my base - he would destroy mine supports and that will cause cave-ins which will destroy buildings/palisades/stuff. Should i then just protect every mine support with own palisade - would that be ok? And even if one mine support will be destroyed - it will cause cave-in only around it, right?

You can build a whole base underground, except for the crops.
I don't think that's a safer choice than on the overworld tho.
Destroying support would cause more harm to attackers than your buildings, i think palisades don't suffer from cave in damage

It will not be safe if you do not have a wall on the level above that covers all of the walled area below it, so pay attention to every tile when you design your walls for all underground levels
and you cannot farm underground so its a very bad idea to limit yourself to living underground only
living underground only allows you to hide from the world, but it doesn't prevent anyone from building a minehole above you, this is a thing you should consider before doing something like that

is that a big deal to have all levels connected to surface village? no, just design everything properly and make these mineholes and walls - the major issue is time it will take you to do that, but do you build things like that every day?

You do not need your over ground wall to cover the entire area of the underground. I believe you just need to make sure all the underground base is claimed and palisaded underground. This should prevent mineholes getting dropped on you.

Claim would not be enough. But if you make sure there is not enough space in your base for a minehole (just a pile of 1 stone would do) it's OK.

Another way to make it safe it plan the base under a lake or ocean.
