I was considering getting the hunter credo out of the way first, and then also raising my marksmanship ahead of time to make best use of the credo +20 marksmanship boost. but i first wanted to ask if archery is even any good? it seems like most everyone just melee hunts/pvps. is hunting with a bow any good, viable, and worth taking advantage of a raised marksmanship level instead of putting the LP into UA/MC?

It can be handy here and there but not really. I boosted my Marksman as hard as I could before getting that credo perk myself, though, I just couldn't bear to let it go to waste.

Situationally could think out a plan in which it would somewhat work but in reality short answer is no not really worth.

Is archery good: Not really.

Does everyone just melee hunt: No one MM hunts because arrows/stones softcapping the animal they hit, melee hunting only caps based off survival. Since you can basically never get your arrow quality high enough for this not to be a massive thorn compared to just raising survival, it's completely unused except by some people who are ignoring mechanics and just doing it because they like it.

Melee only in pvp: Archery is very quality based because quality impacts aiming speed. Archery becomes more viable later world, but I've heard right now Rbow got nerfed enough that it probably won't get popular. Either way that's months down the line.

Should you raise MM: No. If you want to for pvp you will probably alt it. You will not want to hunt with it.

people were dumpstering people last world in MM pvp stuff. if ranger bows and arrows can grow like last world, itll get even better, as now koing someone means death. not just porting home anymore. its just about qa, if you arent producing better arrows and bows, you are going to handicap yourself in hunting and such. but you can still do it. just expect it to harm qa's as other have said.
