Cave exiting to deep water and horses

What will happen if you leave a cave onto surface, where exit is right next to deep water, when you're riding / leading a horse?

Depends on type of water, potential seahorse hopefully.
But yeah, try it for science..

nothing, you are mounted on the horse and move a few steps, but ultimately the horse just stands on top of the water. Last world there was several beaver dungeons near the shore line you could tether a horse into. and upon exiting, you just rode your horse on water for like maybe two tiles but couldnt move after.
