It's possible to lockpik a knarr?

Postby Piquituerto » Thu Mar 14, 2019 1:55 am

I had a knarr with a wooden lock and the knarr disappeared and now i'm wondering what the hell is going on. the only explanation could be someone stole it but i installed locks so now I'm wondering if it's possible to lockpick a knarr with a wooden lock, that would explain everything.
the wiki says this about locks : Locks on houses and containers, but not on Knarrs or gates, can now be picked
but on knarr info says this : An Metal Lock can be installed into it to allow only people with the key to move it.
So I don't know if the type of lock installed is the problem or anything else

You can't lock pick a knarr at all and only the person who has the key to the knarr can move it.

There are only a few possible explanations:

1. Someone got a key copy (or original) and left with your knarr.
2. Someone bothered to destroy it (requires siege equipment and time).
3. You left your knarr in the deep waters and it sunk.
4. Jorb snatched it.
5. Loftar snatched it (AKA some weird bug happened).

I can't think of anything else.

Edit: 6. You think you installed the lock but in reality you forgot.

I would like to add that the Knarr wiki page was updated from "locks" referring to any lock to "metal locks" soon after the knarr was built and wooden lock placed. I checked the page before putting the lock on. I checked the page after it dissapeared days later and noticed the change.

nobody has access but 2 guys in my village, none of them has lost their slave keys, none of them telerpoted back leaving knarr behind, i doubt someone bothered to destroy the knarr with rams or catapult(we use it daily), it was parked on shallow water, every master key is on key alts that never log in, and had lock installed cause i tried to use it without keys and didn't allow me to man the helm.

unless someone who has access teleported accidentally and don't remember (but we checked the last visited places just in case so this is unlikely) or the wooden lock is the problem(is not clear in the wiki), there is no other explanation besides a weird bug

since we lost our knarr it would be great if someone can check if it's possible to lockipick a knarr with wooden lock to discard that possibility

If you don't have it docked, knarrs have a "drift." it could be possible it drifted out of view range. I've not owned one myself, so don't know what the particulars are or how bad it can get. If it drifted into deeper ocean, then it could have broken from damage. I only mention this because I have not a clue as to where you are in the world or what your terrain looks like.

The type of lock doesn't matter. It can be picked, or not. If someone wants to test it, by all means I encourage them, as there very well could be a bug.

Can confirm that drift had no place: i leave my knarr without a dock for days and it is still there. Drift is just a few tiles back and forth, not what a person can imagine to be "drifting".

Damn, how silly I was thinking I thought out all possible explanations... :)

User error this time, but im still weary about the Knarr wiki page having been changed in the last couple of weeks to saying it requires a "metal lock" as supposed to just a "lock" as it did before. Is this a mistake or is there changes most people aren't aware of?
