Is there any way to remove crops before they grow?

used to be trellis on top of the crop and bashing the trellis, but it seems that has been patched out between the start of the world and now.

Apart from building a big enough structure over them so you won't see them anymore... not really.
Some crops can be harvested at an early stage though.
