Chance to find curios...

Postby DamJNeT » Wed Mar 27, 2019 8:27 pm

Hey !

For my credo I need to find 2 washed up bladderwrack, and I spent 2 or 3 hours roaming all the beaches around me and could not find a single one. I don't even think I ever found one yet. I have over 4k per*exp, so I should be able to see them all.

It's weird, I only found 1 chiming bluebell so far, 3 bloated boletes, 0 floatsam. For weeks I couldn't see mistletoes, that were abundant when I started playing, and now I see some again.

Is it only me ?

This is disheartening, spending hours for no reward feels like I'm wasting my time. I'm fine with exploration, but man this is painfull.

One of my friend has the same issue on another continent on another char, he's been looking for that damn washed-up thing for 2 weeks now.
Help !

i have found washed up bladderjack on the ocean beaches, are you trying the coast or rivers? as for flotsams they were always rare, same with bloated boletes and chimming bells. I have found a fair share of each but i spend a lot of time in the wild

All foragables are restocked at the same time up to a certain point. Perhaps you're just looking at the wrong time?

Not all, just the "rare" variety. Bladderwrack is one of them. Some 'rares' are rarer than others (ie smaller spawn pool).

And I'm inclined to agree with the assessment. I've gone days without finding some rares, and then other times, when Im on at the right time, I'll find 2 or 3 of the same one.

When doing credos, you have to be willing to skip quests or be prepared to take a week or more on the specific quest. They all contain difficult or time consuming to complete quests in them. I would suggest skipping this and any others you aren't planning ahead for and may take more than a day to finish. If you haven't used the bluebell and other rares, save them up for when you get a study quest. Save up mats to make multiple +surv, perc, expl artifacts, etc. Same will hold true for all the other credos.

Oh, so it is a rare one. Last world I used to find them everywhere....

Problem is, I already abandoned a quest and got that one as replacement.

And I'm checking inland beaches, not oceans ones.

Thanks for the infos

They only show up on ocean adjacent

Seems like we just had this discussion a couple of weeks ago and no firm conclusion was drawn if they are "ocean only" or any beach. At least, I've not seen enough evidence myself to warrant changing the wiki.

I vaguely remember having found one on a sweet water beach.

I live next to a hugeass lake beach and I've never seen the curio there. That's more than a full month.

@OP: If your area isn't too populated unvisited maps should unload after around 30minutes.
If you come back afterwards you should a new chance of finding something.
