Making a level 3 gilded item

Postby NeoBasilisk » Thu Mar 28, 2019 8:37 pm

I have 5 active quests to create a level 3 artifact. Is there one that is considered the "easiest" to make? I may just resort to using Gilding Song.

Make 20 clogs / sprucecaps, gild them with taproot + enforced bark, if slots not open, use one clogs on another to recycle. Repeat.

What does recycling do in this situation?

Odds of getting a success with the taproot is 3%, and about 2.5% on the bark reinforcement. I'll grant this is probably the cheapest way to brute force it. To get to 3, the odds are around 1:1200*, estimated. With recycling, you'd need around 300ish clogs.

It might be less time consuming to just get Deep Artifice for the Gilding Song and add a gild to your normal items. It's about 11,500 xp on a normal 2 gild artifact. Tailor credo also helps if you have it or know someone that can gild items for you to get 2+ an open slot.

I generally find the rewards to be worth it as long as you're not wasting a lot of time trying to brute force the problem. The smallest reward I received was around 12k LP or around 4k xp (around 1/3 the cost of the magic for the extra gild), plus I had a better article of clothing.

*you might get lucky and hit it in 50 tries, you might need 3000 or more. Pray to RNGesus.

Particularly easy as the first gild is also made of straw...

Pland large field of straw and large field of flax.

Make straw hats with cornbraids and if successful feather trinkets next.

Or make linen trousers/shirts with extra stitches and if successful quilted wadding or hide layer.

If you have tailor credo just put a felt inlay on something and you're done.

However don't be surprised if one of your trees thanks you for your L3 artifact and asks for an L4 one next...

This is what saving all those trashy gilding leaves and rocks is for. 90-100% chance combined with a clothing item that's extremely high.
