Breeding Quality stat

Postby NeoBasilisk » Fri Apr 19, 2019 3:54 am

Does Breeding Quality of the male only affect (softcap) the main quality stat of offspring, or does it affect other stats too?

For example, if you are breeding horses solely for their riding effectiveness, and you don't care about the main quality stat, can you also ignore the breeding quality stat?

Is breeding quality stat only inherited/influenced by the father, or does the mother's breeding quality also impact the breeding quality of offspring?

How does it cap the percentual values???

i belive those are hardcapped by the +/- values an animal can gain per generation (might be wrong here) and are inherited randomly from either father or mother

It is somewhat hard to know whom to cull and not. Is there any overview "article" on the methodology of breeding?

It does not seem to hardcap. I have a hog with breeding quality of 35, and this week it had multiple offspring with qualities 37-38.

I may be wrong here and I don't have evidence other than Jorb said the breeding quality softcaps the actual quality (not hardcap).

The percentages are based on the final actual quality (after breeding q softcapping if applicable). Therefore a q10 110% endurance horse has q11 effective endurance while a q30 90% endurance horse has q27 effective endurance. Breeding against %'ages only is futile if you ignore quality.

Does this mean we need to raise main quality stat for better endurance on horses?
