Do we think stones and ore in mines are localized or not?

E.g. is the chance of finding a patch of any particular stone in a mine independent of roughly where you are on the world map.

My Quarryman is telling me to mine Porphyry, which I don't have in my mine (yet), and I'm wondering if its worth just putting out tunnels in every direction, or if this is potentially hopeless..

i'd first do some prospecting with rustroot, or just check mining activities in the area

Yes, my neighbours had it in their mine, and were very helpful :)

Ores are localized, stones - not so much, in my experience.

I'll also express the same experience that Hasta has had. Stones are spread all around the place and the only special part about stones is that Korund can only be found very, very deep (7 and lower?)

Boulder nodes on the surface are also regional but that's obvious to anyone with any level of awareness. :)
