why do people suicide after completing credos?

i'm a bit murky on the whole subject, what benefit does killing your character after completing a credo give you?
also, do you get buffs from all your completed credos or just the one you're currently pursuing?

It was a way to ease the death of a character in previous worlds, but proved to be only an exploit, so it was removed. Anything referencing it is dated and should be ignored at this current time.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

All completed credos, the one you're currently pursuing only up to the level you're on
