Noob question about road travel

So I made a stone milestone and extended to the place I want to tele, connected all milestones from first to last, but when I use the "travel" option I just tele to the next small milestone.
I then even made a second big one to the end of the path , but still... What am I doing wrong here ? ( never built a road before ) Wiki also advised...

You have to make sure the little arrow that is pointing off the markers when you place them make an unobstructed road. You will collide with the actual markers if you just place them down.

I think a request has been made to have these rotated 90 degrees one way or the other, but I'd have to dig.

to further elaborate, cut down the trees which are in the way, just assume your character is walking this path, anything that would stop you otherwise needs to be removed from the path for you to blink to the end of the road you created.
