How much do animals eat?

Postby WindyMover » Tue Jun 11, 2019 10:38 pm

Does anyone know the actual stats for how many units or litres of food any of the tame animals eats daily? We have just gotten some cows and heard they eat insane amounts of food when preggo, we want to prep so we don't run out of swill. Or whats your farming situation as an example of how much feed you grow (ie, you have 5 cows and grow 20 beets per cow)?

It's hard to say since animals eat whenever those want, not always at the same time and same amount.
Only thing You can be sure of that 2-4 animals should last long. 10 animals will last a week +/- a day or two.

Cows grow and breed rather slowly. At the initial stage, the hermit does not make sense to breed a huge population of animals, there are enough 4-5 cows that give milk, 1 bull, and replace them with better animals as they breed.
All this makes the quality increase rather slow, and at the initial stage we fed the cows with flax and hemp seeds. Flax grows quickly and produces many seeds that are conveniently stored in a barrel.
However, now we switched to beets and carrots 120-130ql. With the farmer’s creed, three beds of 60 beets each and three beds of carrots, 25 each, are enough to feed 6 cows, 6 sheep, 4 horses, and 4 chicken coops.
By itself, the beds are sown immediately or almost immediately after ripening.

just prepare a 20x20 square paved on the borders with a 18x18 square field in the middle and put some bee skeps on the borders, you should get enough crops to feed like 20 or so(if not more) animals for sure

I count 45 units of food per pregnant animal per day and 4.5 for the normal ones. Then again it's preferable to round it up rather than down so you have some extra. think I read this number somewhere sometime, haven't monitored food throughs closely or something like that

A full trough will last this about 1.5 days. All animals are preggo and producing milk (-1 or 2)
