Thanks both, and this is what i was exactly thinking while i got a new toon some days ago trying to make a living on a small island... okay, it's not exactly the better place to be, but i like there instead of a place near a cave...except i find that if i want to play a lowly life and enjoying not taking all the stuff i find around in other's bases (or just some bits to make my life a bit easier in terms of time wasted waiting), i have major issues with things i should be able to do even with low stats, but i cannot do and will change the way i play the game, usually by taking away the will to play the game, like finding enough wax to open the first level of a mine, getting the larvae to make the first beehive and have a better life in farming, or even just tearing down a timber house i don't want anymore because replaced by a stonestead.
I still cannot find a good answer why those things became so impossible for a new player until he decides to go and gather remainings of other deeds.
