Question about boulders

Postby Ants » Fri Oct 25, 2019 3:02 am

So when you dig a cellar you get boulders from the stone that's below the house you built, right? Is it possible to get boulders of stones you can't find in the wild that way? Like malachite boulders or black ore boulders.

Just imagine black ore runestones..

You get the stone from a tile directly below the house. You cannot get ore or black coal. In those cases, I believe you will always get gneiss.

It was once possible in far far away galaxy, a long, long time ago.

But then, yknow, infinite ores is sort of dumb. So it was made that ores and coal would turn into gneiss.

Earlier this world we had black coal boulders from building on top of it. So its certainly possible. I think we had malachite too, but I'm not stone certain. Deff the coal tho.

What you get depends on where the cellar gets dug - i had different types of stone but no marble, black coal or ore (and i dug many cellars this world on all continents)

@borka: I wasn't sure since the house, currently, is a pocket dimension. I don't recall reading anyone's attempts at working out specifics in case they wanted an "infinite supply" of stone.

@Fierce_Deity: Thanks for the correction. Now that you mention it, I was probably crossing the changes with world boulder spawns and the cellar information.

Any idea which boulders can spawn naturally on the overworld and which can't? I know I've seen porphyry and quartz around.

Probably easier to say what can't: Ore (any), Black Coal. I think I've seen a couple that only exist underground, but for the life of me, I can't remember either name. Seems like both were new this world. I also don't recall seeing either on L1, and I had explored a fairly large area of it since I was near the large mountain areas on the west continent, and had some pretty extensive caves dug out on 2 and 3, too.
