Is there a discord?

Is there a discord?
Also, why isn't the game on steam? Probably can get more exposure for the game.

There is an unofficial discord, I or someone else can send a link if you want

As for steam, the devs claim the game is in "eternal alpha" and will probably never consider it finished. You can only ever release a game to steam once and they don't consider it ready for that yet, and also don't necessarily care about exposure.

Steam has a LOT of games these days..,You wont get any exposure just for having your game in steam, except if you pay for advertisements or your game is already very popular.
Why would the game be on steam when devs have their own way of distributing it? Just excess messing and valve taking some % of money.
Also, the game is really not suitable for majority of steam users I'd say, reviews would soon be terribly negative, 100% certainty. Why? Performance issues for starters, permadeath, overall difficulty of doing anything and lack of instructions in game.

I was just curious about the game progression since it looks very in-depth made and complicated (in a good way), and it seems that not many people at all play this game. I'm sure many people never heard of this game, so I was wondering if it is being advertised somewhere or if it will be published on a popular environment where people can find the game.
I found this game by asking a general question about non popular games and someone suggested this game.

There will never be advertising of this game anywhere. Developers of this game have said so, they said that if the game is good enough, people will find it. Thus there is no need for any advertising at all!

This will expire in a day so if someone else see this and want it they can PM me.

Both of the developers are on it, and its the most populated one I think even though it's "unofficial" :D

I am very impressed with the game. I just can't really understand why the devs don't want the game to have much more exposure.

Is there any history about the game progression? Would really like to know some facts and stats about the game.
When was it made? first published?
Timeline of playerbase?
How big is the playerbase right now?
Future events? Updates?
Upcoming plans?
What do the devs expect from the game?

The game was released sometime in 2011 I believe.

Playerbase fluctuate anywhere from 120-250 atm, although in the past I've heard it being 1000-2000 players depending on the world. It's low atm because the world is 9 months old and people think it will reset soon (as in 3-6 months), and old active players went inactive due to new combat change for the current world (w11), from what I've heard on discord (also lack of seige, PVP, faction drama).

Game is constantly updated, no 5-10 years plan for the game but each iteration of the world usually comes with a major game changing update. (don't quote me on this I've been playing for less than 3 weeks)

Check announcement thread for updates, in the last 17-20 days or so I've played there has been 3-4 updates.

Devs expect nothing from the game, it's one huge social and philosophical experiment.

HnH had its first public release in April 2009 if I recall correctly (month may be off a little; I'd have to dig it up). It was a slow start, but after being submitted to the Sweden Game awards, it got a little bit of traffic that had some snowball effect via word of mouth on various websites like 4chan, somethingaweful.com (Goons), Bay 12 Games, etc. Jorb and loftar have never released player counts, but judging from the world resets, there's probably around 5-10k players who come and go on a regular basis.

Peak player count from this last restart was about 1700. (From memory; I believe someone posted it or it's available through one of the trackers someone has set up.)

If you want to reliably contact the devs, PM jorb or loftar directly here. If you have issues that need assistance, it's usually better to post in this forum. If you think you've found an exploitable bug, some prefer to PM them about it, others will post in Bugs.

I know jorb said they'd work on being present in Discord since so many are connecting through it. Anyone know if this is the only one they're on? I recall we used to have a list of "official ways" of contacting someone, but not sure what happened to it.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
