How do I make a shorcut for autohaven that works?

Postby donatas081294 » Mon Dec 02, 2019 2:01 am

The game only seems to work after I press play on the main site, but when I go back to downlows and try to play it again it always comes up with error or nothing happens.
Also which file for haven and hearth has all of the save map data?

Let's assume you're on windows and clicked the play button and saved the offered file to your download folder

the file is called autohaven.jar

.jar files are run by Java

so if you right click autohaven.jar you can choose what to open it with - "Open with " - here you choose Java(TM) Platform SE binary
i.e. C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_231\bin - java.exe or javaw.exe

now the needed files for the Haven Launcher get downloaded and saved at
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Haven Launcher

while playing res (images of all stuff) and map files go to
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Haven and Hearth\data

for a desktop shortcut you may create a batch file using notepad.exe - i.e.
Code: Select all
start javaw -Xss1024k -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -jar autohaven.jar

***
or
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_231\bin\javaw.exe" -Xss1024k -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -jar autohaven.jar

make sure to save it as autohaven.bat and in the same location as autohaven.jar

***set java in your windows environment
https://javatutorial.net/set-java-home-windows-10

now you do a desktop shortcut pointing to the autohaven.bat
i.e.
target: C:\Users\Username\Downloads\autohaven.bat
run in: C:\Users\Username\Downloads

be aware that when you update java you'd have to edit either the bat file or the environment settings to reflect new path and version name
