Ever build either of these? You can look at it either of two ways: one, simply a "tech hurdle" that needs to be jumped, or two, look at designs of the iron age period. Leather was used for a lot of things you wouldn't think of because we have different methods of doing things today. As is, people should have their leather sometime in the next 24 hours (depending on how well they were able to protect drying racks and tanning tubs).
