Do we still have protection against attacks during login? Anyone know exactly how this works? for example if i login inside the aggression range of an npc will it be able to attack me?

Never had it. Make sure you log in inside a house, burrow, cave, or other place "safe" from wild animal spawns.

There is usually some delay if you don't move before wild animals notice you. Also, the "aggro radius" shown in some clients is more an estimation*. This can give you time to duck in somewhere safe nearby if you log in to a dangerous animal spawn.

*Sometimes you can walk up to a boar and slap it on the butt before it aggros, other times you can be sprinting along and have one charge you from half a screen away.
