New Sling Mechanics

So, I'm seeing that there's no aim bar for the sling anymore. It just goes where you point it. Does anyone have any insight into what, if anything, marksmanship does now for the sling? And for those that have used it, does the bow work the same way?

The target's marksmanship * agility now reduces damage if it's higher than your marksmanship * perception, so there's that. I don't know if you can get bonus damage if your marksman * perception is higher than their marksman * agility, but it doesn't say that in the patch notes, so probably not. I'll test it out in Valhalla later.

Bows work the same, yes.

Yeah, I would appreciate some more details on whether it increases damage and by how much, since I'm just using it for hunting and don't want to overinvest if I'm already doing max damage to my target.

How about make the sling require hide instead of leather? Right now bow requires leather too but is objectively superior except in regards to ammo cost and availability.

Sling can hunt small animals that you wouldn't normally catch unless on a horse. It doesn't really do enough damage for much else. Hunting wise bow is very good for anything unarmored (fox, auroch, etc), but at low Q you'll do no damage to bigger mobs like bears. Boars are somewhat in a midpoint, it's possible to kill them but takes quite a few arrows. Overall imo, archery hunting is probably going to become meta for small villages/solo players again. I'm guessing quality of weapons/ammo will go up enough over time to let them hunt boars+ more easily anyway.

I agree sling seems a bit underpowered considering it requires leather. I'd be fine with putting it under maybe rope+hide?

Rope + Hide for a basic sling, leather version that can handle shot, and finally a fustibalus could give slingers a similar progression path to archers?
