Defend ourselves from raiders

Postby DoctorDarren » Tue Mar 10, 2020 10:12 pm

Hey Hearthlings! My brother and I have a dire problem and we need help and advice.

So my brother and I settled down and have begun making friends with our neighbors. Except for the raiders.

These guys hit us hard day 1 and stole everything that wasnt bolted down and destroyed the rest. We chose not to move (probably should have but we are stubborn) and discovered they are settled to us as well.

From what we can tell there are about 5 of them. They speak very broken English and seem to only want to insult and harm us.

They've beaten up my brother multiple times and are keeping him from foraging, exploring etc. and are using scummy tactics to try and bait him out. Im afraid this is going to cause him to quit which will most likely mean the same for me.

I am now turning to the forums for help, advice or insight into this and what options we have for fighting back. Thanks for your time.

I wouldn't even bother moving. Just spawn in somewhere else. If you happen to land nearby, try again. You might not even have success getting out the gates.

edit: I should note that they may just be trying to push you out of that position and will otherwise have no issues with you. Some people think they're picking a good spot, but they're actually causing problems with the mechanics of the game, too close, or something else. Might try asking next time they come around. Could be they're just looking for someone to bully, too, and in that case, moving or spawning elsewhere will be the only choice.

We are fairly dug in to our position and would like to stay if its a viable option. Moving will be our last resort.

You'll be dead if you dont if they're repeatedly aggro'ing and KO'ing. They quite possibly just don't have a means of protecting a redhanded character yet. Once they do, you'll be gone one way or another.

I'll note that it's hard (if not impossible) to kill a character directly. They'll just keep at it until someone is dead or you give up. Bad neighbors make for a bad game, so moving is smarter and better. Feel free to be stubborn in the position, though. They might give up first.

Kill directly no, but it's quite quick to render a character unable to play or risk death.

In cases like this of continued harassment, it's a real danger.

A few options to consider; some others have suggested.

A. leantos with a few alts you wildybeacon in to stealthy produce leather for you to rush a pal. They might be "raiders" but they also might bugger off for a bit if you get a pal up. big doubt though as they'll probably come back later

B. Get two canoes & bugger off. Better places to go, and you can also grind you FEPs & gear up to come back later to visit them. Visit them like the 1996 US Olympic bombings-b12-boogaloo-edition.

C. Destroy your hearthfire & hearth a few times till you find a place with less people. Less people = good As you can bugger about in peace.

D. Drown yourselves, or find other creative options for suicide such as a house with sandflees KOing you non stop (extra points for creativity.), and find another place to live then wildybeacon your brother in.

All in all the world in young, you have little to loose, and they have much more to loose if they're picking fights. Better to cut your losses now. Who knows, you might come back one day with new friends. Friends who like to murderbone. Those are great for these situations later on as revenge is a great pass time. But you are better off moving unless you want to stay & be a thorn in their ass. I'd recomend the classic way to be a pain: aquire a wheelbarrow & dirt. Make friendship pyramdids around their base. These types of people love friendship pyramids. They also love it when you mass spam milestones around their gates. Best of luck, be sure to update us one day.
