Stop getting combat moves?

Is there a diminishing return on getting combat moves from killing the same animal? I stopped getting moves from bats every kill to now its like 1 every 10-15 kills

It's completely random, maybe with a lower chance to get a combat discovery each day for same animal. I spend 3 days killing ~15 bats each day and I didn't get a single move. 4th day, 5 bats in a row unlocked something.

Just pray to rng jesus or allow coles to collect your tears.

Yes, the chances do go down the more you collect, both overall in the total number of moves collected, as well as the number of moves you've collected from the animal you've killed. Killing bats for all of their moves is possible, but you'll have an easier time getting whatever you're looking for from another animal if possible.
