Hunting QL

Postby Silushun » Tue Mar 17, 2020 3:04 pm

Everything I butcher it doesn't matter what it is, is always the same QL. Is it dependent on my Stone Axe? if so, how do I get better Ql stones. Thanks :)

Max value is your survival. The quality after you've "hard capped" it will be averaged with the quality of your axe. Animals have a minimum quality, boars can't go lower than Q30 for example.

the first cap comes with the SURV of the killer of the beast, then another cap comes when butchering (2 types one for foos other for bones)

My axe is QL 10, I can't get higher stones so I'm stuck? and my Survival is 21. Mind you, i hunted it with a Bow and Stone arrows, does that come into play?

The quality of the corpse is always hard capped by your survival when you make the killing blow. When butchering, the quality is further soft capped by your stone axe. Hard caps limit the quality directly relative to the associated skill(s), while soft caps limit the quality relative to the average of the starting quality and the soft cap value. If you butcher a fox corpse of quality 20, but you only have a stone axe of quality 10, the hide, meat, and guts will be quality 15 (soft capped by tool quality, average of 10 and 20) and the bones will be quality 20 (equal to the quality of the corpse).

While a boar has a minimum quality of 30 while alive, the quality of the corpse is hard capped by your survival.

Stone is similar. Hard capped by your masonry, soft capped by your tool. Underground dust piles sometimes have high quality cat gold, but you can get attacked by cave rats rarely when popping those. Otherwise you need to mine the walls of the caves to get better Q rocks, and that's a whole other conversation.
