The murder skill now unlocks a toggle ability called "Murderous Rage". Activating murderous rage will enable it for 24 hours and increase your grievous (wound-causing) damage by 20%. A hearthling who is knocked out is protected from being attacked by players unless they have murderous rage active, in which case they can be killed by hearthlings who also have murderous rage active.

Was under the impression you only need Murder to finish someone off who had Murderous Rage enabled. Did I misunderstand that?

You're correct.

A: guy in murderous rage
B: guy with murder but not in murderous rage
C: guy with no crime skills

1: A vs C and A wins: Victim (C) might be dead if winner (A) dealt a massive damage wound using his extra grievous damage, if victim is not dead he is KOed and has full KO protection and safely hearths home.
2: A vs B and A wins: Exactly the same as 1.
3: A vs C and C wins: Due to C not having Murder, exactly the same as 1; other than A being in the victim's place this time.
4: A vs B and B wins: Victim (A) has forfeit his KO protection by using murderous rage and winner (B) owns Murder. Therefor, combat does not stop, and the B is free to continue attacking A until A is slain if he wishes to do so.
Total misplay.
