Client downloads, but game stuck on "Loading application"

I can't play the game. It's downloading at like 4kb/s and will not finish. Client downloads fine but it cannot download all necessary files from the launcher.

Mac OS 10.15
Java 1.8u231

Any suggestions?

You might try with Amber custom client first

some hints to run on a mac (while i guess you have some experience with Java8 gaming on mac)
