Early Game Strength Foods

Postby MikeOfDragon » Fri Mar 20, 2020 6:16 am

I've been eating onion skewers and nutjerky but can't seem to get enough strength to mine some tin. Anyone know any other good early-game strength foods?

Look at spit-roasted fish--pike off the top of my head. There's a couple of others, but I don't recall right at hand without looking. You can also dry fish for an even bigger increase in FEPs, but it takes a few days.

Check the wiki for a rundown of what fish give what FEPs: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Fishing

If you're up to it, cave anglers are very good str FEP when dried. Boar is pretty good, and bear is better.

Also note: don't forget to upgrade your mining tool! Quality increases your ability to mine and the quality of stone and ore you get.

What marksmanship or UA do you think I'd need to take on a boar? As well as strength and agi? Appreciate your help dude

You can take a boar with quality 10 bow and arrows, but higher is always better. You should raise your mms to match the quality of whatever bow you're using, and find a slow boar. UA isn't going to touch boars this world until you're statted up. You'll probably want to fill a quiver before starting the hunt so you don't run out before killing it. If you use bow only, STR, AGI, and UA are irrelevant.

I have 5 racks of Pike drying. Next add in nuts and berries, along with that grub thingy. I am easily at 22 str, and can be higher, but as a hermit I balance what I am raising.

The earliest strength foods pre large animal hunting: Fish (brill, sturgeon, pike), Nutjerky, Soldier Ants, Grub, Yellowfeet. You'll notice most of these are multifoods, so getting the strength from them can be a bit hit or miss.

I don't think this addresses your problem (I want metal), but it addresses the question since that wasn't fully answered.

Nutjerkies are strong to start if you have nothing else and can get high quality dusk fern.

Ah I had a boar last night that I shot a few times, doing 125 damage before it started running. Didn't know if I should chase it down and punch to death or if it might turn around and fight back. I have a q10 bow and 26 marksman
