Postby Alitis » Sun Mar 22, 2020 3:52 pm

Any tips and tricks players could use to optimise their frames / sec ? Now running at 22 - 24 tops and in a village 9 - 14 . Its annoying :(
Running on Laptop: i5 2.7Ghs - 8GB Ram - GC Nvidia Gforce GTX 950M.
edit: running amber at minimum visuals
Thanks in advance for any help

Use the new beta-render-client, try to disable more graphics, buy new computer. No other advices really.

Beyond what shubla mentions, you can try to turn off other background apps you might have running. Haven is CPU limited right now, and if it's an older i5, you could be running into some specific issues that this could help with.

The most likely problem could be a "power save mode" issue since you're on a laptop. Make sure the CPU and graphics aren't throttling down to conserve power.

Also make sure that your system is running Haven off the Nvidia GPU, not the integrated Intel graphics.

Could be a driver issue. Check all drivers for updates, not just your graphics. Windows 10 is supposed to stay on top of this, but I notice it still fails to properly update sometimes.

For what it's worth, the current performance is odd. People with better machines have complained of getting worse. I have an older, lower end machine, and I do better than what you've posted, but not much. You didn't mention which i5 was being use (and it really doesn't matter), but it's a broad spectrum of CPU and motherboard architectures over the life of the Intel Core series, and that makes a huge difference when an app is CPU limited.

use Amber client and remove shadow, antialiasing, animations for hives, trash pile, etc...

disable flavor objects, terrain smoothing, biome transitions... use simple crops and hide them while not farming

limit fps with command ":hz 24" for example, but depending on your maching you'll want to go even lower

Depending on the machine, limiting frame rates doesn't necessarily really help much, and can actually make performance worse. Worth a try, though.

With laptop GPU, not necessarily.

It is more complicated matter, I think.
