How do I generate heat?

Im trying to bake some fruitroast but my heat meter isn't changing at all. The fuel is at max and I used sticks to fill it up. The fuel isn't decreasing either.

The heat meter fills after the fire has been lit for awhile.

Do you have the campfire lit? You can also cook fruitroasts in a kiln, so you can cook 25 at a time rather than 4.

8 minutes IIRC... that's what it takes for the fireplace to start building up the "heat" level. This is also about the time it takes for a single stick of fuel to be consumed. Note, if you only light it with one stick, it won't actually create any heat.
