Lost druid's ring

Is there some game mechanic which might cause a loss of druid's ring? I wore it on my finger for the last few days and now I noticed that it's gone, and I have no idea how.
Apart from someone stealing it from me, or me dropping it by mistake, is there anything else which could explain that?
