Does Carpentry cap things like Drying Frame?

Postby Lorefin » Fri Apr 17, 2020 4:18 pm

Hello,

I wonder, before building things like Drying Frame or Tanning Tube, do I need to raise Carpentry skill to not lower its quality?

Or Masonry when building a Kiln, Tar Kiln and such

Constructing objects never caps them, only crafting materials, or crafting items in your hands like buckets.

You don't need to raise carpentry to build your tanning tubs. That being said, carpentry caps board quality when sawing, in accordance with your bonesaw's quality and the wood you cut.
Good saws and carpentry can increase the wood quality by a relatively large amount, even on q10 logs, and you should definitely do that before spamming too many tubs.

The same with building kilns; you need good masonry to dig up good clay, but actually constructing the thing can be done by a fresh-out-of-spawn character at the same quality.

To avoid any confusion here: Skills cannot raise quality, but can certainly lower it.
