Livestock breeding

Postby pkawol_7 » Mon Apr 20, 2020 12:12 pm

Hi all,

Got a few questions.

1) How fast do usually animals mate? It took several RL days for a ram to mate with an ewe. Is it the norm?
2) What about goats and horses?
3) Do animal pens affect the mating chance? Say, if the pen is too small or too large, does it matter?

Thanks a lot.

1) If male breeding ql is lower than the ewe's then there is chance that ewe will reject mating with that ram.

Yes, please. I don't have perfect memory, but I certainly don't recall this one. Don't troll the help forums. Thanks.

It can take several days the first time animals mate. After that, you have to be careful because they can get pregnant again almost immediately after giving birth.

2) Pretty much the same for all animals

3) For the most part not that I'm know of, but if it's too big, the animals can be too far apart and not ever notice each other. They do need to be able to interact with each other, so no keeping all the males in one pen and all the females in another.

I don't troll, I recall something like this added but couldn't find that update. Maybe it's just my bad memory.

Too many things someone gets in to their head "it works this way" and maybe it appears so, but actually doesn't. Just be sure it's verified or verifiable information before sharing it. Anyone that remember world 7 and earlier should remember the beehives that didn't increase product quality until someone finally took the time to work out the issue. Come to find out, there was a bug, and it wasn't just "the way the worked." Same goes with the recent "can't put ice blocks in <...>" Instead of reporting a bug, people just assumed "this is the way it works.

To note, i've seen someone else say the same thing about livestock, so maybe it is the way things are working now, but I do not recall such a change (at least as being documented in patch notes).
