Noob question about ko

What should a spruce hat do if they get knocked out next to thier Hearth Fire? By a player or a beast (no idea if there is a difference)

just log out, youll just disappear from the game.

You should be safe to log back in in about 15-20 minutes or so. This is the amount of time the server takes to "clear" the area of activity. Of course, someone passing through the area nearby could reset the timer.
