cant find string

im seing these tree root things on the ground all the time but i cant pick it up im guessing its not spindly taproot but what does spindly taproot look like then?

No. You probably need a few points in PER or exploration if you're not seeing any.

I would suggest picking a different sort of bark from birches,elms and such and making bark cordage for string

use bark... you can get strong bark from certain trees, and combining them with water makes strings, it's a lot easier than early finding taproots and gives you more strings.

No but you need to be looking in a forest as opposed to a grassland

That might be the issue, you should be able to see a some of the Spindly Taproots even with complete fresh spawn stats.
