Recover missing interface in default client

With the new update Amber crashes when I try to load a character, so I'd like to once again attempt to use the default client.

Months ago the Heads Up Display that shows hit points, stamina and energy disappeared on me, as well as the time of day indicator that usually appears in the top centre of the screen. At one point the key combination to bring them back included the space bar, but that doesn't work now. Because of this I've given up on the default. I haven't been able to find out how to fix it.

I was once told that they probably vanished because something I did while logged in on an alternative client carried through to the vanilla client. However nothing I have tried has brought them back. I understand that the alternative clients are on their way out, but it doesn't seem practical to go on trying to play without the HUD so I know if I have been injured or if I am running out of stamina. Vanilla is broken for me in a critical way.

How do I recover the missing HUD?

It is a customizable keybinding (Options/Keybindings/Toggle UI) that is left unbound by default. When we added customizable keybindings we intentionally left it unbound by default since having it bound by default seemed to confuse more people that it helped, but just set it to anything and you'll be able to get your UI back.

I can't find an option for HUD or for Time of Day in the keybind options. If I could click on the elements I could maybe use the Bind Other Elements option but since the HUD is gone that won't work. Toggle UI does nothing either.
