Double Jeopardy: When Snow Melt? What do Leeks do?

When does the snow melt its almost noon on day 1 of spring? Also what is the point of leeks? You can't eat them like other crops.

The snow has already melted at my part of the world (somewhere near central south). Probably it considers location.

Leeks can be used as Onions in recipes - they give different FEP bonuses than Red Onion / Yellow Onion. Make some Glazed Honeyons or something similar to see the difference.
(e.g. http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Mushroom_ ... n_Pirozhki - but only for Red and Yellow onion)

I made that image way back before Leeks were added to the game. Leek should count as "any onion" and be viable ingredient for Pirozhki.
