Looking for advice on Gildings/Equipment

Postby wolf1000wolf » Tue Apr 06, 2021 12:52 am

Hi, old player but haven't really played since Gildings were introduced. Would like to ask for some advice on gearing progression.

Currently I have a Forager/Hunter main and Mining alt.

My Forager is wearing something like:
Feather Band [ Forager's Brooch / +1Per, +3Exp ]
Nettle Shirt x2 [ Taproot Lacing x2, 1 Gild slot / +6Surv, -2Agi ]
Nettle Pants x2 [ Taproot Lacing x2, Forager's Brooch x2 / +6Surv, +2Per, +6Exp ]
Beast Ring x2 [ Dust Jewels x2 +18Per ]
Bat Wing [ Gild Slot ]
Bunny Slippers [ Taproot lacing / +2Surv ]
Total equipment stats [ -2 Agi, +21 Perc, +9 Exp, +14 Surv, +5 Str ]

My miner is naked and WIP.

What sorta gildings should I be working towards for my Forager and Miner?

Specifically, I'm not sure if I should keep trying to Recycle my nettle shirts to get another gild slot. Also not sure about which gildings to put on my shirts... Hide Layer? Rough Guard Patch? Something else?

Also, what sort of Gildings and equipment should I put on my Miner?

Thanks!

I personally do tons of recycling and stuff early on, trying to get double gildings on my starting nettles, so I can fit them with taproots lacings and forager brooches. Once leather is rolling, I try to upgrade to leather patches + hide layers, as a baseline, and then adding a lacing or another forager brooch if I get more slots.

Mole pawbones are a good start for a miner, there won't be much gear that's meaningful to a miner early on, later on (once you have hard leather) mole pants are good. Polished porphyry beads are one of the other reasonable early mining gilds, but they take leather.

Petraglyphs are the other early world mining gild that nobody ever remembers because they are disguised as a curio in the menu. Masonry combined with a little bit of int and more lore than you will ever need.

Slot cheap gilding and if you get lucky, but more expensive one as second.

Clothes softcap gildings, meaning that you get less bonus from equipment lower quality than gildings in it, but equipment being higher q than gild doesn't provide advantage.

Wow this is such a hot tip. I was actually thinking the petraglyph was bugged because I couldn't find it in the gilding menu... Thanks!

For your miner start with a set from mole's pawbones - you want the mole meat for the per, and the pawbone gild is a good way to start. This assumes you are in mole territory, of course...

Sadly moles are pretty rare where I am. Only a sliver of their biomes and requires a bit of travel. I did manage to get two mole paws though!

thejn make some porphry beads, they cost leather, but are pretty good early game masonry gilds, the moment you have hardmetal, you just wanna hang yourself with plump bobs like a christmass tree

Some options for you:

http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Bear_Hide (not actually that good due to the gilding slot issues, but it's easily available as a nettle transition item)
