So if I have a Cruel Incision, and I go stand around in a swamp until it becomes infected, does that mean it can potentially heal naturally?

No, you used to be able to scrub the wound away like that, but now Infected Sore is just a condition on any other wound that you can't get rid of, only stall. It would be a pretty bad idea to get it infected.

I don't know about cruel incisions but I can confirm that works for deep cuts.

This was changed sometime during w11. Patch notes here: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=63953&p=810251&hilit=infected+sore%2A#p810251

It's not how the patch notes read... but then jorb has lied to us in the past.

It does work like how he says. Rather than the wound turning into an infected sore, it stays as it is but under it you'll see it has become infected. The only thing missing there is that the wound can also get better over time while infected, not sure if it's an omission or if this is a bug.

So you're saying that Infected Sore will let a wound progress in either direction, even ones that don't naturally heal? I guess you could then apply Ant Paste or Lather to the Infected Sore to ensure that it only goes in the healthy direction.
I haven't experienced this myself, though, as my latest infected sores were just on Crab Carressed which heals over time anyway.
