It's been a few world's since I've played(legacy).

We were able to easily teleport to the village idol of who we were trading with, I don't believe this is possible anymore.

What's the method of transporting 2 cupboards full of valuable items across the map multiple times a day?

Also, any tips/advice to trading are appreciated

Basically Knarrs, snekkjas, rowboats and horses.
Of course now that we have thingwalls you can exploit them.
But there are not any tricks really. You can maybe do some tricks by walking alt to some place and then teleporting back to avoid carrying the valuables, but thats about it.

Barter stands allowing for AFK trading of "normal" items has massively offset the cost of not being able to teleport though. Markets that get established make trading for the every day player much easier.
