How do I find my friend?

I've been trying to find my friend for like IRl days and I have him partied and I see his marker and I walk toward him and I keep making markers and it feels like he keeps getting farther without moving because he keeps saying hes not moving???

party markers have certain range. direction is shown correctly, but if you see arrow on big map some distance away, it might just as well be 20x further.

If you just started, you can build Wilderness Beacon. With it your friend can spawn on you rather then in random place when he creates his character.

how do I go about building a wilderness beacon? I'm decently new but have been on this life for a few days. I looked on the wiki and I have the carprentry skill but its not in my build list

no, but I've gotten the crafting recipe for things before getting all the required items

A few recipes (I remember bee skep) work like that but most don't. Go discover all the materials and it should show up then.
