How long to dry fish?

Postby Holdens » Tue May 18, 2021 7:08 pm

I'm trying to focus on quality food ever since I learned how badly I messed up eating anything and everything. I put fish on a drying rack and they've been at 0% for a while now. Any idea on how long it takes to dry?

According to the wiki, just over a week. Have not tested anything other than cave angler fillets and they're not technically normal fish, they seem to take around 5 or so days on my frames.

Thank you! I tried checking the wiki but couldn't find where it listed a timeframe.

About an in-game week, which is just shy of 3 rl days (66 hours)

Last world the quality of the drying frame significantly affected the speeds at which things dry. Since my answer to 'How long does it take to dry fish?' is 'bloody ages', I recommend making some highq frames for fish, building them in the furthest corner of your settlement, and forgetting about them for a week at a time. Dried fish can be really good food, it's just not something you want to make to order.

It takes about 66 hrs according to the wiki. But you didn't screw up, you did what you had to do. Don't make this a game of min/maxing, you will never enjoy it fully :D

Interesting. Seems there using sqrt(X/~25) instead of sqrt(X/10) on the drying frame quality in this case.
The open question here becomes if that is just for fish, or for anything placed on a drying rack. (not having a decent quality range to test that myself yet)

Strike that. Mistook a 3 for a 2 in the related RoB formula.

I tried checking the wiki but couldn't find where it listed a timeframe.

Not sure how one can miss this.
