mandrake roots

I recently received a quest to make a dark effigy (four, actually) and it occurred to me that I have not seen a single mandrake root this entire world.
Neither has the other people I play with. Did they get more difficult to find? Maybe I should abandon this quest?
I've been searching for two days now (doesn't help that I have trouble identifying certain "terrains")

Might have better luck if you have a cemetary. Not sure I've ever found a 'wild' one. What ones I've found have come from building up graveyards. I think development of the interred hearthling matters (as with the skill--developed or undeveloped), but that may be speculation on my part.
