Fisher's Request for a Catch

Is this buff permanent or for duration (and how long if it is?)?

it is not permanent, lasts for about 1 hour or so

I recommend not to ever use it at it's current cost(maybe it would be worth it if it was like 10 times lower), better to spam fishing nets in the ocean tiles and in lake/river tiles and check them every a few days

I took a risk and used this ability. I used it only with primitive casting-rod.
The duration is I think ~1 hour.
It somewhat buffs % of catching fish, and most importantly it lowers fishing cast time (the time between applying Fish ability on water and appearing the windows where you aim for particular fish) to about 2 seconds. Which makes you always engaged.
Nevertheless, the ability is shit, so as using primitive casting-rod.
For a second, I thought the % of catching a fish is increasing the more fish you catch, as your character "learns" how to catch fish. But that seems not a case. The % depends on the time of a day, type of lure and probably some random deviations.

I used this hearthmagic two times. Fished for about 8 hours with breaks, and caught about 7 piles of fish. Of cause if I always chose the highest % I would have gotten far more stacks of fish, but why would I need dozens of 2-3 types of fish?

Conclusion: primitive casting-rod sucks

The main reason for using the casting rod is that the lures cost little to nothing, and people usually need one or two types of fish not some random asps or chubs. I'd say the other one is worse because of the bait cost & more randomness.
Though yeah the hearthmagic is not worth using IMO. Unless you're saving time.

If you stockpile a ton of lures, using it to catch the prime window of a valuable fish can be worth it. I think I caught 3 piles of eels one day using it.

But my big gripe is the bit where it nukes your lures super fast.
