Sloped palisade and essential crops.

Postby NickRom0 » Mon Aug 29, 2022 12:52 pm

Hi all. A matter of life and death. How to build a slanting fence? When does the beginning of the fence lie below its end? The wiki states that the height difference should be + - 5. How to understand this? Now I plan to align one tile at a time, fixing the previous tile with paving to get a slope at a slight degree

What crops will be required in large quantities? I suspect wheat, flax and hemp, lettuce and onions. And what can you not grow, pumpkin, tobacco? And what influences the kind of crop that will come from wild seeds? Biome, where were they found?

While breaking down the incorrectly built part of the palisade, I received a message that I was too weak to deal damage. How? It's only been three or four hours since it was built. And it takes two days to dry completely.

Sloping pali is a bit of an artform/aquired skill. Use the landscaper to, as you said level up/down one tile at a time. You have to be really strong to hand bash a pali on a claim even after just a short time(I do not know numbers) you may need to build a wrecking ball. Essential crops early are the rope/fiber crops, flax being the main one. Your wheat type crops are important for flour/baking and the straw doll curio. If you are a hermit you dont need massive amounts of onions or lettuce, beetroot will also give you leaves for salad. Turnips are needed in large amounts for livestock. Carrots are a fast growing three stage crop that you can get to high quality fast. Pumpkins are good to have for fast con foods like pumpkin pie. The tobacco is optional but offers a feasting bonus and good late curio. Hemp will offer weed if harvested correctly and processed. Hope this helps some, others surely have more words of wisdom.

When building tricky palisades or palisade parts, build a roundpole fence first. The placement rules are the same (other than 'forbidden tiles', e.g. building too close to water), so if the roundpole fence works you can build a palisade there.

Actually, one of the changes this world is that quality gains scale by growth time now, so faster growing does not mean faster increase in quality anymore (and slower crops are no longer necessarily low-quality).

Good tip on the roundpole fence to test. Pumpkins would seem to be the ultimate animal food then.
