When a popup takes my focus away from chat, but I keep typing (I have to look at the keys to type), random things happen. I believe this is because of keyboard shortcuts.
I don't know where to find a list of e.g. what typing the letter a or A will do if the chat box isn't selected. So they aren't useful to me in any way. (Some of them can be painfully figured out by digging through menus, assuming I've guessed correctly how they are indicated in the UI. Others seem to be strictly trial and error.)
Two reboots ago, after the reboot announcement pop-up took me out of chat, a series of keyboard shortcuts crafted something I didn't want out of high Q mats I was about to use for something I *did* want.
I'm OK with shortcuts that involve a <ctrl> or <alt> - I'll never type them into chat. AND moreover they presently work whether or not I'm in chat. <ctrl>t always brings up (or removes) my character sheet, whether or not I'm in chat.
But these keyboard shortcuts involving letters without modifiers are a hazard.
How do I turn off any keyboard shortcuts that involve plain letters or numbers?
Typing a digit will cause my character to attempt something from its tool bar. IF I'm not in chat.
Typing "con" as part of a word you THOUGHT was going into chat looks like it will try to craft a branding iron.
Talking about a cow just as someone tries to bandy you, or the devs announce a reboot, looks like it will try to craft a waterflask.
I want to turn this all off. It would be useful, if I could reliably stay in chat. But AFAIK I cannot reliably stay in chat.
Alternatively, I want a way to have popups never ever unselect the chat window.
Since it probably matters, I'm using the ender client.
