Bow hunting

Hello guys, today i tried to hunt a bear with bow and stone arrow, but i couldnt penetrate his armor. Is matter of low quality equipment bow/arrow or I have just to use bone and metal arrow to damage bears?

What ive been doing is using a boat and shooting metal arrows into shallow water and maneuvering the bear so i can pick up the arrows. Until you get higher quality bows it will take a while. Its doable with bone but its so tedious i recommend metal. My friends recommend just "gitting gud" and using a boar spear. But i do like archery.

Arrow type (stone arrows are trash), bow quality, arrow quality, marksmanship... they all play a role

Bears are very hard to kill with normal bow. Good bone arrows, best bow you can make, MM the same level as your bow.

Even then it's a slow and painful process.

So if I have more MM than the quality of my bow, the damage does not increase?

Do animals have Marksmanship? Or is it only valid for shooting other players?
