I can't be certain, but there used to be an issue (to some extent, an intentional design choice) where "authority" objects of a different claim aren't protected by a claim? If "visitor" was allowed to walk from outer gate to the Idol, and this was the case, they could bash the Idol freely. Any closed gate, even a stick or stone fence, should stop this. (There's a semi-exploit where simply riding a horse allows you to open a fence gate if it's right next to the visitor gate, as riding a horse extends the collision reach for that interaction, while visitor is applied based on the center of the hitbox?)
Before the Village Claim is activated, it IS protected by a personal claim, because it doesn't yet project its own claim.
(IIRC) Claimed Hearth Fires could at one point be bashed while having a Visitor Buff to that claim (they were only protected by being innately 'owned' by their linked Hearthling, and you could choose to commit crime against that.)
Even more seriously, a Realm Cairn (expensive structure requiring Gold Bars and Rock Crystals) could be bashed while having Visitor, if physical access to it was allowed. I don't remember for sure, but this was patched?
