Steam account Link issue

I downloaded and fired up the game on steam and didn't realise there was an option to link the accounts. but now it seems I'm too late as it says the steam account already had account witht he email address :/

Did I do something wrong?

To make it simple:

1. Logout of the website, press login on the website and press the button for adding a username to a Steam account
2. Create the new website account using your Steam account
3. Go to account -> security details and enter your password again to elevate security controls
4. On the bottom, follow the prompts to Unlink the Steam account. At this point you have made your Steam account a bare account again and the character you accidentally made is on this new website account. DO NOT TOUCH STEAM YET!
5. Log out of the website and log back in on your real main account, then repeat steps 3 and 4 except now you will be linking your Steam account to your main account.
6. Log back into Steam and you will be on your main.

Same boat here the option to link steam account is grayed out.

basically i made a new character on my steam account, played for about 3 hours. Logged off and researched how to link my steam account to here. Probably should have done that first but couldn't wait to play.

I finally found a link to a thread that said how to do it. It said to to make a steam account here, delete the Steam Link from that account. Go back to my regular account and add the steam link.

Took those steps, and now my account is properly linked to steam... But I have a new problem.

Now when I try to log back in through steam I get the Haven Error!
